Can a fish know its weight? The answer to this is undoubtedly NO, why? Because the life of the fish is so dominated by water that when they're out of the water they become conscious of themselves. This analogy directly explain the kind of relationship that exists between Nigeria Students (Fish) and Cultism (water). On July 10 1999 where Afrika and five other students of OAU died with 11others injured is a remarkable events that depitched the ill-effects of cultism on Nigeria universities. The event was an attack perpetuated by 40 members of the Neo-Black movement of Africa (Black Axe) confratanity OAU branch. FASA OAU: FASA POSTPONES ELECTION FOR THE SECOND TIME

       The Faculty of Arts Students Association, OAU, has postponed her election for the second time today, 30th May 2023.  Recall that the election was postponed the first time due to a claim that the electoral chairman was acting on his opinion and due to some eruptions the election was rescheduled for today 30th May, 2023.      Reports reveal that the Faculty of Arts election has been extended because of the unavailability of Part 3 religious studies students who had a field trip today. It was said that the department in question is projecting President and Sports Director Candidate.       On the spur of the moment, the postponement was announced to the indignation of the students of the Faculty of Arts who had gone en masse to render unflinching support to their respective candidates. GREAT IFE DECIDES '23: ACJOAU WITHDRAWS FROM GREAT IFE STUDENT UNION ELECTORAL DEBATE

In preparation for the Great Ife student union election, the electoral debate scheduled for the 29th of May, 2023 was postponed until the 30th of May, 2023 after the ban was lifted on the electoral process.  Following the announcement, of The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University, released a press immediately on Monday, 29th May 2023 informing the generality of Great Ife of their withdrawal from the Student Union electoral debate due to the resolution coming after a last-minute consideration of the terms, conditions, and modalities of the debate set down by the Electoral Commission.     The Press release read thus:  The leadership of the Association regrets to inform the general public of her withdrawal from the Great Ife Students' Union Elections Debate which, according to the formal invitation that we got, should hold today Monday, 29th of May, 2023, by 3 pm.  As we all know that by convention, the Association of C...

ACJOAU Releases Finalists for Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest

By Ajibade Abdullah Adewale As the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU)  prepares for its annual International Campus Journalism Conference and celebration of its 50th anniversary, the association has released the top 8 finalists for the Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest.  The Essay contest is sponsored by Adejumo Kabir an alumnus of the Association who's an Assistant Investigations Editor, HumanAngle Media. The Top 8 finalists include Ajao Oluwatimileyin, Alimi Azeez, Aluko-Olokun Kikilobaoluwa, Babalola Segun from Medicine and Surgery, Ayobami Olaoluwa Andrew, Peace Ajayi from Law, Ogbonna Amarachi from Institute of Education and Zainab Adewale from the English Department.  While congratulating the finalists, Adejumo Kabir noted that the quality of the submissions is a testimony that the students have good skills that could land them a job in Nigerian Mainstream Journalism.  He stated that the reason for sponsoring the essay ...

"Ahize, popularly known as King was a very cool and easygoing guy within the department, he served as the Director of Socials of the Department when we were in Part 3, and my relationship with him presented him as a very responsible fellow". The class of representative of the deceased told Great Ife Network.  It's no longer News that Okoli Ahize an OAU finalist of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Technology Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife was confirmed dead on arrival at the Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC) on Tuesday, 11th April 2023 after being accused of theft at the Awolowo Hall of residence, after he was beaten by an angry mob at the Awolowo hall of residence. ROAD BLOCKAGE; OAU STUDENTS STRANDED

Following the widespread news circulating Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife campus about the death of a final year student of the Department of Civil Engineering identified as Okoli Arinze.  The  Technology and Engineering Students Association (TESA) of the Faculty of Technology has reacted to this by engaging in a peaceful protest by blocking all roads that led to the university and restricting the movements of vehicles moving to and fro campus holding placards with  #JUSTICEFORARINZE in their hands. This blockage denied students living outside campus from gaining access to activities on campus today.  Many students missed their respective lectures as a result of this, and some were seen trekking to and fro at the time of gathering this news. PROTESTERS HALT ONGOING CLASS, ORDER STUDENT OUT

Sequel to the death of a fellow student, many OAU students have taken to the street to make known their grief and dissatisfaction about the jungle justice made by the great Awo resident that led to the death of a part 5 student of the faculty of technology.  Currently, the peaceful protesters blocked the main road leading to the campus gate, leaving many stranded and some trekking their way to and off campus.  Likewise, a hold has been put on lectures as the protestors are seen chasing people out of the lecture room and demanding that all students return to their various hostels.  One such was witnessed when a class held at the amphitheater was interrupted by the protesters and the over 500 students present were ordered out of the place, although students are still present around the academics area and there was no case of violence as of now.  This amongst many other activities hindrance of transportation has been the aftermath of the recent incident. DISTRIBUTE FREE 5,000 BREAD TO STUDENT The office of the welfare secretary Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife Students Union in association with the manager and workers at Creative Bread has agreed to give 5,000 loaves of bread out to students across the 8 OAU Hall of Residence which includes Akintola Hall, Fajuyi Hall, Moremi Hall, Alumni Hall, ETF Hall, Awo Hall, Mozambique Hall and Angola Hall of residences respectively, without leaving Muritala Muhammad Postgraduates Hall and Maintenance Hall.
